Lakay Acces Sante receives a grant from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey for $5,000 to fund Promoting the Health of Haitian Immigrants in New Jersey.

The Lakay Acces Sante has received a grant in the amount of $5,000 from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. The donation made through The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey will be used to fund the Promoting The Health Of Haitian Immigrants In New Jersey program.

This grant from Horizon will enable Lakay Acces Sante to continue our important work consisting of mobilizing and empowering self-motivated Haitian community members and allies to help at least 300 new Haitian immigrants (NHI) in New Jersey improve their access to health and human services over the next twelve months,” said Lukenson Francois, President. “Lakay Acces Sante will benefit vital support to advance the health and well-being of the Haitian community in New Jersey, particularly the new immigrants, and the development of our young organization.

The program includes conducting a community survey to better understand Haitian immigrants’ health needs, providing health education on prevention and management of common health issues, offering social services to facilitate their adaptation, and forming partnerships with local health institutions to improve access to culturally appropriate care.

“Horizon is pleased to support the important work being done by Lakay Acces Sante to improve the access of new Haitian immigrants to health and human services through our Healthy Communities Grant Program,” said Jonathan R. Pearson, Executive Director of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. “The program aligns with Horizon’s commitment to helping our members and the community access the resources they need to manage their health and improve health equity.

About Lakay Acces Sante

At Lakay Acces Sante, we’re not just an organization—we’re a force for change! —we mobilize, empower, and connect community members to create a healthier life together. Our mission is to shake up the status quo of health and human services, ensuring that every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to the care they need and deserve. Imagine a world where top-notch healthcare and human services aren’t a privilege but a basic right for all. That’s the world we’re contributing to forging—a future where socio-structural barriers are things of the past. Through grassroots efforts and relentless advocacy, we’re reshaping the health landscape into one that’s inclusive, compassionate, and entirely focused on the individual. We target people with the heaviest burden of disease or highest barriers to accessing health and human services, namely: immigrants (primarily Haitian immigrants), women, children, people living with a chronic illness or any functional limitation, the unemployed, homeless, LGBTQ, and elderly people.
