Lakay Accès Santé Joins the City of Irvington in Celebrating Haitian Flag Day 2026
IRVINGTON, NJ — May 17, 2026 — Lakay Accès Santé Inc. (LAS) proudly joined the City of Irvington today in celebrating Haitian Flag Day, a cherished commemoration of the creation of the Haitian flag in 1803 and the enduring spirit of independence and unity that defines the Haitian people. The half-day-long celebration, organized by the City of Irvington, brought hundreds of community members, families, and elected officials together in an atmosphere rich with cultural and patriotic symbolism — vibrant music, traditional dance, beloved Haitian cuisine, and inspiring speeches honoring the resilience of our people and the strength of the diaspora.
LAS set a community outreach table throughout the event, distributing Haitian flags and flag lapel pins alongside bilingual health education materials and informational flyers covering mental health, hypertension, diabetes prevention, and how every New Jersey family — regardless of income or immigration status — can access free and low-cost care.
A heartfelt thank-you to the community members who stepped in to help throughout the day, handing out materials, welcoming visitors, and translating for neighbors in Haitian Creole. Their generosity reflects what this celebration is ultimately about: a community that shows up for one another.
Days like today remind us that public health is also cultural health. When our community gathers in celebration, we have the privilege of meeting people where they already are — joyful, united, and open to information that can save lives.
